Remote File Management (RFM)

Allows MNOs to either read or write content to their SIM/eSIM/iSIM files (also known as Elementary File – EF), for example, to update images or make batch changes to thousands of cards at once.

Remote Applet Management (RAM)

Enables the download, activation, deactivation, and the exclusion of JAVA applets from a SIMcard.

Typically, OTA services are very transparent to the end customer. In a few specific use cases, end customers might be informed – via a simple SMS or SAT browsing messaging channel – about the executed service for the user’s convenience and they can also opt-in and out of visible services as a standard feature.

An alternative to OTA services is the physical replacement of SIMcards. However, SIM replacements add significant production, logistical and distribution costs to Connectivity Providers and it is not a user-friendly solution to consumers.
